The Polish Association for Yiddish Studies (PAYS) was founded by Polish scholars in March 2010. In November 2009, the conference "Perspectives of the Development of Yiddish in Poland" was organized by the Shalom Foundation in Śródborów, near Warsaw. The discussions there led to the formation of the Polish Association for Yiddish Studies in Poland. Our goal is to preserve Yiddish language and culture as a living part of our common culture.

We are a group who read and translate Jewish texts: literature, poetry, archival documents. These we use in our research of philology, history, sociology and more, making everything available in Poland among other scholars.

Currently the association has more than 60 members.

Members support the goals of the Polish Association for Yiddish Studies in Poland, paying a yearly membership fee of (in 2013) 100PLN with a special discount for PHD candidates and students of 50PLN.
