The Fifth Warsaw Conference for Young Jewish Studies Researchers

The Mordechai Anielewicz Center for the Study and Teaching of the History and Culture of Jews in Poland in cooperation with Jewish Studies Section of the Student Historians’ Knowledge Circle of Warsaw University are pleased to invite you to The Fifth Warsaw Conference for Young Jewish Studies Researchers, Warsaw, 23rd – 25th May 2013
The conference is planned for last year undergraduate students, postgraduate students and PhD students under the age of 30. It aims at showing the full view of today’s interests of young researchers, as well as the condition of research on widely understood Jewish Studies. Conference will focus on worldwide history of Jews and the history Israel from ancient time until today. It will cover Shoah-related topics, sociology, culture, literature, history of art, linguistics (Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino) as well as religion and philosophy related questions.
We would like this conference to become a platform for young researchers across the world, on which they could exchange research techniques, thoughts, ideas and interests. The history and culture of Jews is an integral part of European social life throughout centuries and therefore it deserves researches as wide as possible.
In 2008 our colleagues from the Jewish Studies Section of the Historians’ Knowledge Circle of Warsaw University published a book Różni razem. Młodzi naukowcy o Żydach (Young Together. Young Scholars on Jews) presenting chosen papers from the first conference. In the academic year 2012/2013 two more tomes will be published summarizing the conferences which took place in 2009 and 2011. We are planning to publish chosen articles from 2013 conference in two languages (dependently on the language of the paper – Polish or English), each with a translated summary.
