7th Summer University for Yiddish Strasbourg
The 7th Summer University for Yiddish will take place in STRASBOURG from the 18th to the 29th of July at the CIARUS (City center).
There are four levels :
1 Beginners
2 Intermediate
3-4 Advanced (in Yiddish) – Yiddish Littérature
The first two levels will be taught by Natalia Krynicka and Sharon Bar-Kokhva , both teachers at « La Maison de Yiddish » in Paris.
The advanced level will be taught by Karolina Szymaniak and Agnieszka Legutko – both teaching in the Universities of Warsaw and New York.
In the afternoons there will be three workshops :
Singing ( with Astrid Ruff)
Klezmer dance (with Hélène Domergue)
Klezmer music (with Marine Goldwaser and Charles Rappoport
In the evenings there will be films and documentaries,concerts and conferences.
Two excursions will be organised :
One in Strasbourg – a boat trip on the river
The other by bus to discover the many Jewish sites of rural Alsace
The cost is 480€ ; 350€ for students
For students from Eastern European countries there is possibility for a study grant.
Accomodation is available at the CIARUS which presents a particularly advantageous solution. It is also possible to take meals there too.The rooms are pleasant ,prices very reasonable.
There are also ,of course, other possibilities for accomodation in Strasbourg for which it is necessary to anticipate if so required.
